The crew of the Stena Immaculate is safe after abandoning the vessel following multiple explosions caused by a collision with the container ship Solong off the UK coast.
Crowley, the manager of the US-flagged Stena Immaculate, confirmed to OGI that all crew members are safe after the incident, which occurred earlier today.
Around 10 a.m. UTC (5 a.m. EST) on March 10, 2025, the Crowley-managed tanker Stena Immaculate was struck by the container ship Solong while anchored near Hull, off the North Sea coast of the United Kingdom.
The impact caused a rupture in one of Stena Immaculate’s cargo tanks, which contained Jet-A1 fuel. This led to a fire and fuel leakage. Following multiple explosions on board, the crew abandoned the ship. Fortunately, all mariners aboard are safe and accounted for.
Crowley has activated its emergency vessel response plan and is collaborating with public agencies to manage the fire and secure the vessel. Both ships are currently burning, with social media footage showing severe damage and heavy smoke emanating from the scene, according to the latest updates from authorities.
